Episode 16: Rough Draft of 2022

Played on 2022/06/22 03:10 UTC

This was a rough draft of Crappy Independence Day 2022 that I ran at the spur of the moment. I don't think I'm tipping my hand too badly by posting this now that the track list has been moved around quite a bit and the whole show has been extended yet ANOTHER 30 minutes to 2 hours,

World War III?

  1. Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around
  2. Tom Lehrer - So Long, Mom (A Song for World War III)

Politicization of Religion and Corruption

  1. John Prine - That’s How Every Empire Falls
  2. Roy Zimmerman - Jerry Falwell’s God
  3. Genesis - Land of Confusion

  1. Gmac Cash - Coronavirus

Social Media, Political Division, and Culture Wars

  1. Psychostick - Sadface :(
  2. Electric Six - Full Moon Over The Internet
  3. System of a Down - Boom!
    1. Flobots - Handlebars
It's far easier to see in the music video but it's two friends taking different paths on one decision and eventually becoming mortal enemies. It's become that way with politics now.
    2. What Fun! - The Right Side Won\ This was added because it's intentionally vague which side they're referring to. The same song could be sung by either side, though one would probably be put off that it was sung by black people. It was written about the Falkland Islands War so the BBC banned it for a while. South Africa also banned every song they had because What Fun! contains both black and white members and this was during apartheid.

Racism and Fascism

  1. Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq. - Stop Being An Arsehole
  2. They Might Be Giants - Your Racist Friend
  3. Information Society - (We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang (Inertia vs. The Crusher Remix)

School Shootings and Disturbed Kids

  1. P.O.D. - Youth of the Nation
  2. Pennywise - Anyone Listening?
  3. The Offspring - The Kids Aren’t Alright
  4. Five Finger Death Punch - Generation Dead

  1. Dead Kennedys - Police Truck
  2. N.W.A. - Fuk Da Police
  3. JPOD & The Root Sellers - System Is Broke
  4. Public Enemy - Fight The Power
  5. Funkadelic - If You Don't Like The Effects, Don't Produce The Cause

Now Fix This Shit!

  1. Machinae Supremacy - We Are The Ones Who Will Change The World
