Episode 2: Last Minute Spackle
Played on 2021/07/11 01:14 UTC
This was played at the last minute because snowdusk had a conflict and couldn't play. He's basically the most popular DJ on tilderadio, so we didn't want there to be dead air for an hour while people were expecting music. This set was written that morning with the expectation that it would be used the next weekend, but change of plans!
Two songs got pulled on the fly to try to fit into what remained of the hour. I ran 2 minutes over but the DJ that was going to follow snowdusk didn't turn up anyway.
- DJ Arique - Giorgio by Fhqwhgads
This is from the album "Random Access Fhqwhgads", which is really the album "Random Access Memories" by Daft Punk with the song "Everybody to the Limit (Come on fhqwhgads)" By Strongbad from Homestar Runner mixed on top of it in a coherent way. The joke ran on a bit longer than it took to stop being funny so no more of that.
- Die Fantastischen Vier - Michi Beck in Hell
This band is huge in Germany and Austria but seemingly unknown elsewhere. Recently they celebrated 25 years together with another tour.
- Kollektivet - ÆØÅ (Size Matters)
This song is from the Norwegian TV show "Kollektivet" on NOK.
- Het Goede Doel - Zwijgen
This song is in Dutch. They sing too fast for me to understand the lyrics but the artist and title translate to "The Good Goal - Be Quiet". "Goal" in this case being a literal soccer/football goal, not something to achieve.
- Hank Locklin - Please Help Me, I’m Falling
- Ian Dury - Spasticus Autisticus
This song was banned by the BBC in 1981 due to it being deemed offensive to disabled people. However, the song writer, Ian Dury, was himself disabled and was talking about his own struggles. He had polio as a child and had issues with one arm and the opposite leg due to it.
- The Night Flight Orchestra - Transatlantic Blues
- Kobayashi Yuu and Sawashiro Miyuki - Kimagure Akubi-chan
This song is in Japanese. This is from the soundtrack to the anime "Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei" but does not appear in the anime even though it's on the CD.
- Sonata Arctica - The Cage/Vodka (Hava Nagila)
Sonata Arctica are from Finland. This is from their live album "For The Sake of Revenge" which is from a live concert in Japan. The last bit about vodka is to the tune of "Hava Nagila".
